Altered Sight

Vision simulation for design. Help and privacy information for Altered Sight on Mac.

Altered Sight puts a live vision simulation over your Mac screen. Compare two views, combine effects, and export labeled screenshots. Requires macOS 15 or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel.

Support

For help, bug reports, or feature requests, send a message using the support form.

Include your app version, macOS version, and a short description of what happened. For display issues, mention your display setup and selected conditions. Please leave out confidential information.

Enable Screen Recording

  1. Open Altered Sight and choose Allow Screen Recording.
  2. If needed, open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording and enable Altered Sight.
  3. Return to the app and choose Allow Screen Recording or Retry.
  4. Quit and reopen the app if macOS requests it or the preview does not start.

Audio and microphone capture are disabled. The macOS permission name does not mean Altered Sight records audio. Some protected content may appear blank.

Compare and export

Move the window over your work and select a condition. Use Dual screen to compare two views. Open Advanced controls to add layers, adjust strength, or hide effects. Choose File > Save Screenshot to export a labeled PNG.

Multiple displays

One display is captured at a time. Keep the preview within a single display for a complete image. Moving the window to another display switches the capture source.

About the simulations

Simulations are approximations for design exploration and education. They cannot reproduce an individual's vision, diagnose a condition, or certify accessibility compliance.

Your screen stays on your Mac

Altered Sight processes screen content locally to create the simulated preview. It does not upload this content to the developer or a third-party service. The app does not capture audio or microphone input, or record video files.

Files and preferences

A PNG is saved only when you choose Save Screenshot, at the location you select. The app does not upload or share it. A cloud storage service may sync files if you save to a folder it manages.

Appearance and interface preferences are stored locally on your Mac. You can delete exported files in Finder and revoke Screen Recording access in System Settings.

Accounts and analytics

The app requires no account or internet connection. It includes no ads, third-party analytics, or third-party crash-reporting SDK. It does not transmit personal information to the developer.

Apple may process purchase, usage, and diagnostic information under Apple's privacy policy and your system settings. These services are separate from the app's local processing.

This support website uses Google Analytics and Google Fonts through the site's shared layout. Those website services are separate from the Altered Sight app and may process visit and browser information under Google's privacy policy.

Contact and policy changes

If you use the support form, your email address and message are sent to the developer by email to respond and investigate the issue. The form uses reCAPTCHA for spam protection, which may process browser and interaction information under Google's privacy policy. Messages are not saved in the website's form submission archive. To ask about your information or request deletion of support correspondence, use the support form.

This page will be updated if the app's privacy practices change.
